What is Hot Jazz?!
Join us for an afternoon of jazz music as we attend a concert at Jazz at Lincoln and learn how the Jazz Masters make jazz so cool! We will also go backstage and meet the musicians. Don't miss our lunch beforehand where you have the chance to socialize with all your Hankering For More friends.

Another inspirational and educational day awaits us at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Our group will have a private tour of some of the Museum's highlights. But, first you must put to work the social skills that we have been developing - you must make your own lunch plans if you want to participate in the tour! I know you can do it!

A day at the Theater
We enjoyed a very social BBQ lunch at BB King's House of Blues. Afterwards, we walked to the New Victory Theater for a thrilling performance by the dance troupe, Kuncklehead Zoo. The show featured break dancers and singers as they dramatically told the story of Hip Hop Music. What an exciting day!

Season Kick Off at NY Botanical Gardens
We welcomed new and old members back to the Group at our first event of the season. After a catered lunch, we shared our summer experiences and then enjoyed private tours of the Henry Moore Exhibit at the Garden. What a beautiful and fun day!

A Magical Lunch
Our fifth season came to a close today. We have grown from 7 members to over 60 and have seen many friendships form and develop throughout the years. We celebrated our success with a group luncheon and a magic performance by TV star Ryan Oaks. Some of our generous donors joined us and we had the chance to thank them and share some Hankering For More stories.

Jazz at Lincoln Center
After a delicious and very social lunch, we walked over to Jazz at Lincoln Center where we tapped our feet, clapped our hands and grooved to jazzy tunes. Following the performance, our group enjoyed an exclusive backstage tour and met with Wynton Marsalis! Wow - an amazing day!

Metropolitan Museum of Art
Our participants made their own lunch plans using the social skills that they have developed through the participation in the group. After lunch, we all came together for a private tour of the Museum. We focused on artists with learning disabilities and how they overcame & used their disabilities to achieve success and fame. We even had the chance to exercise our artistic skills. Thank you to Nitza and the Museum staff.

Fire Museum of New York City
Welcome back to our FIFTH season! We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the fire museum during which we shared our stories of socializing during the summer. We are so proud to report that almost everyone in the group connected with an HFM friend over the summer - WELL DONE! After lunch, Fire Fighter Carl Shipsky led an informative discussion about fire safety and then we had a tour of the museum by a NYFD fire fighter.

A Marriage Proposal at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens
Hank (for whom our group is named) proposed to his girlfriend Lauren (another member of our group) underneath a flowering cherry tree at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Lauren said "yes" and we all celebrated their engagement with cheers, tears and good wishes. Hank and Lauren met through Hankering For More and were excited to share their engagement with all of their friends. We wish them a lifetime of love and happiness. We followed the engagement with a luncheon and private tour of the garden. What a memorable and exciting way to end our third season.

A Day in the Park
We spent the morning giving back to the community that has given so much to our group. Hankering For More volunteered in Central Park preparing the Park for springtime plantins. After our activity, we enjoyed a picnic together.

Circus Extravaganza!
What a perfect way to share the holidays. We had lunch together at BB King's House of Blues where we exchanged holiday wishes and Secret Santa gifts. After lunch, we attended a performance of Circus Oz at the New Victory Theater. We witnessed acrobats, flame-throwing jugglers, high flying trapezists and many more exciting entertainers. Rockettes Live at Radio City Music Hall
What an amazing afternoon - we attended the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular featuring the world famous Rockettes. Before the performance, the participants made their own lunch plans with each other.

CNN Studio Tour
Our group enjoyed a private tour of the CNN News Studios. We saw the sets for Larry King, Anderson Cooper & Paula Zahn. We also learned how the news 's set, Anderson Cooper's learned about the history of the news channel and how the the newsroom works. This exciting day began with a private lunch at a local restaurant.

Bronx Zoo
Our kick off event for the 2006/2007 season was a big success! We reconnected at a BBQ at the Bronx Zoo & then enjoyed private tours of the Zoo's most exciting animals.

Cruise around Manhattan
What a great way to end another successful season! We enjoyed a delicious lunch as we cruised around Manhattan and took in the beautiful City views. The cruise ended with a dance party on the boat. We hope you have a fun summer!

Jazz At Lincoln Center
What an amazing day! We began with lunch for 40 of us followed by a performance by the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra & Ballet Hispanico at the Jazz At Lincoln Center. Afterwards, we were fortunate to be able to meet some of the dancers, musicians and the Music Director. What a spectacular event!

Cooking Lessons
What a delicious event! We enjoyed cooking lessons where we learned how to make meatloaf, vegetable casserole, baked apples & other delicious dishes. After our class, we devoured the fruits of our hard labor!

Theater
Hankering For More attended a musical about Jackie Robinson, a legendary baseball player who overcame discrimination in professional sports by signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers and becoming the Major Leagues’ first African American baseball player. It was a great display of how perseverance can help overcome obstacles that we may face in our own lives.

Holiday Party
We celebrated the holidays together with a dance party. We enjoyed lunch followed by salsa dance lessons, socializing and a Secret Santa gift exchange. What a great way to share the holidays and end another great year for Hankering For More!

American Museum of Natural History
What an exciting day of exploration! We enjoyed a private tour of the museum's special dinasour exhibit and a luncheon in the museum's dining room. It was a great way to reconnect with friends after our summer vacation.

Central Park Zoo
We enjoyed a sunny summer day at the Central Park Zoo where we were treated to a private tour of the zoo and lunch at the Leaping Frog Cafe. It was the perfect way to end the spring season!

NBC Studio Tour
What a great day - we had a private tour of the NBC Television Studios. We learned about special effects, the history of some of our favorite TV shows and visited the sets of Saturday Night Live, Dateline and the NBC Nightly News. Some of us even had the opportunity to report the news!

Learn to be a DJ!
We were DJs for a day! At Scratch DJ Academy we learned how to "mix" and "scratch" records like the pros! We also enjoyed a dancing and a pizza party.

Baking Lesson & Tour of Tribeca
What an amazing day! Hankering For More parents (Tracy & Amy) hosted lunch and a baking lesson at TriBakery. We learned to dip strawberries in chocolate & even took our home made goodies home with us. After our lesson, we enjoyed lunch together and then had a private tour of Tribeca. We visited several famous restaurants & learned about the restaurant business. We also toured some well-kept secrets such as the firehouse from the movie "Ghostbusters". We can't thank Tracy & Amy enough for a fabulous afternoon.

Museum of Modern Art
We had a private tour of the newly rennovated Museum of Modern Art. We learned about Van Gogh and had the opportunity to draw on our own in one of the galleries. The participants made their own lunch plans prior to the tour, a socialization exercise that was enjoyed by everyone.
