Hankering For More Newlyweds

Hank (our group's namesake) and Lauren met through Hankering For More in 2004. After dating for a couple of years, Hank surprised Lauren with a marriage proposal at a group event at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. They were married in May 2008 in a beautiful ceremony that was witnessed by family and the many friends that they have made through participation in Hankering For More. Congratulations to both of them!

HANKERING FOR MORE is a non-profit organization that creates social and educational opportunities for high functioning adults with learning disabilities and other mild cognitive limitations.

We design and host events that encourage socialization, promote the development of independent living skills and are intellectually stimulating. Some of our past events include private guided tours of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Bronx Zoo and the CNN Studios, cooking, pottery and dance classes and theater and concert outings. All activities include the opportunity for our participants to get to know each other and to engage in socialization exercises and group discussions.

We meet once a month on the weekends and our events are generally free. The majority of our activities are located in Manhattan , however, our participants come from the entire tri-state area. We require that each participant complete an application and meet with a HANKERING FOR MORE counselor prior to attending their first event.
